ECHO
This July, i get the unbelievable privilege of joining visual worshiper Camron Ware in facilitating two breakout sessions at ECHO .
ECHO is a conference for church leaders that love using media, technology, and the internet to be more effective in sharing God’s story.
If you don’t know about Camron & his site Visual Worshiper , then i’m betting you’re new to this blog. Not only is he one of the best visual media guys i’ve met and worked with, but he’s become a close & trustworthy friend as we’ve spent countless hours dreaming and inspiring each other with thoughts on visual worship and how we can best equip the Church.
Our two breakout sessions will be back-to-back, and will focus on two things: how to use visuals in worship & why . To give you a better idea of what i’m talking about, here are the class descriptions.
Part 1 :: Visual Worshiper – Tools and Talent
Most of today’s corporate worship gatherings require some level of visual production. And typically there is tension in finding the balance between knowing what your technology does and how to use your technology as an art-form that truly enhances worship. We’ve all been shown what-to-do ; now come learn how-to-do-it .
We will cover several tools for visual worship, and help you discover how they can be implemented in your worship space. Specific topics include main screens usage, Environmental Projection, lighting for video/worship, lyrics/fonts, using live video during worship, content, software, hardware, and much more.
Part 2 :: Conversations on Visual Worship
Now that we’ve discussed how to use our tools, it’s time to go deeper and ask the question “why”.
Why do some things enhance while other things distract?
Why is one image more powerful than another?
Why are things like timing, transition & color worth thinking about?
Why is proper lighting effective?
Why is iMAG (live video) needed…or is it?
Why is visual worship important to my congregation?
These are just a few of the discussions we hope to engage in.
This class time is setup as an open forum where all are invited to participate in the conversations surrounding using visual technology to enhance worship gatherings.
Let this dialogue be a catalyst in helping you to artistically and tastefully approach technology in a way that transforms you into a Visual Worshiper that will lead your congregation in ways you’ve never imagined.
