One of the marks of a good software company is releasing a new product only when it’s truly ready. …even if it means missing a publicly projected release date. This Fall, we’ve all been watching Renewed Vision intently and with much anticipation as they’ve been giving us glimpses of their long-awaited upgrade to ProPresenter, Version 4.

Today, Renewed Vision has released a Public Beta of Pro4, available only for current Pro3 users to download and start testing, with hopes of a final product release very soon. [ don't ask me what "very soon" means, b/c i truly do not know! :) ]

This will be a great chance for current Pro3 users to get familiar with the new layout & features. But more importantly, this will be a great help for the developers at Renewed Vision to have skilled users catching all the remaining bugs in this new powerful upgrade. I can imagine they are only going cross-eyed as they’ve been immersed in the development for a while, and it will be good to have fresh eyes on the program! They’ve done an amazing job at getting Pro4 this far; now it’s up to “us” to help them finish the job!

All testing will be facilitated through their forum in the Seed area. Users will have to log into the forum and download the beta. They ask testers to ask any questions in this forum section–and explicitly ask them to use the forum and not email/call for support. This will allow the answers to reach the community as a whole, and not just one person at a time.

I don’t know about you, but you can put this on my Top 10 list of distractions from “work”, as it’s will be a major contributing factor to the procrastination on other projects at GI. :) Ok, not really… this new version is going to take my work and creativity to a whole new level! I can’t wait to start integrating into in my live productions!

Thanks Renewed Vision…homerun!

and for the rest of us Pro3 users, let’s get started!

  1. There are a lot of presentation programs out there. MediaShout has stayed on top of the majority of them.
however, i believe, from experience, that ProPresenter offers the most stable, flexible & easiest solution on the market.
I have worked in the PC/Windows world before, and the Mac platform is much stabler and reliable. ProPresenter is Mac-only b/c they are dedicated to providing the best solution, no matter the hardware required.

MediaShout is great for creating detailed, intricate presentations, however the options and interface can be quite overwhelming. Version 4 released pre-maturely, and it is finally getting to a place where it’s fairly stable (for the most part).

ProPresenter, to me, is much simpler yet provides a more powerful performance and overall quality.
The video engine in ProP is also amazing, and shines at handling HD content. The dissolves are smoother than anything i’ve ever seen.

The playback of content in other programs has interlacing & quality issues, as it’s relying on Direct X/Windows technology to playback media.
There are a lot of bells & whistles in MediaShout, but honestly they are features I would never use…but my situation may be different than yours. ProPresenter 3 gives me what i need, and i can tell that the developers spend their energy on innovating new technologies and features that i would have never dreamed of implementing before… that software expands my creative horizons like none other.

ProPresenter 4 is about to blow version 3 out of the water….once again, the team at Renewed Vision has hit a home-run… they have offered the detailed intricacies that customers have asked for, and developed new features that, like i said before, will facilitate a level of creativity i have never tapped into before.
And did I say it’s easy to use?

i could go on and on…but take it from someone who has had an in-depth experience in both worlds for years, ProPresenter is the way to go.

However, if you choose to stay with MediaShout, know that it is a great product with a development team that is constantly dreaming and trying to improve the performance of their software. Both the Renewed Vision & MediaShout teams are full of amazing, brilliant people who have a heart for the local Church and to see worship advance in ways none of us have dreamed of.

    I hope this helps.
